The drive from Saranda to Ksamil is a simple 15.3 km run south on the SH81, normally 20–30 minutes but up to 45 in July and August. The interurban limit is 80 km/h, dropping to 40 km/h in built-up areas, and it is wise to refuel before heading south. Parking is the real challenge: central paid lots charge 300–500 ALL cash, organised beaches like Lori, Paradise, Puerto Rico and Bora Bora have lots that fill before 11:00, Mirror Beach (Plazhi i Pasqyrave) costs 500 ALL plus a steep 10–15 minute walk down, and informal attendants may ask 200–1,000 ALL. On the sand, Ksamil Beach 7 is the family favourite with shallow turquoise water while Bora Bora is livelier; two sunbeds run 1,000–1,500 ALL in early June and 1,500–3,000 ALL by August. The four islets sit within Butrint National Park, the nearest about 150 m offshore — a pedal boat or kayak costs around $20/hour, a self-drive speedboat €190–€240 per day with fuel and no licence, and shared group trips start from €10 per person. Butrint itself is just 7 km further south, with a 1,000 ALL adult ticket valid 30 days and a small free car park that fills before 10:00. June is the best month, with the sea at 22–24°C and lighter crowds, while the worst congestion falls during Ferragosto around 10–20 August. Cash in Albanian Lek is essential for parking, sunbeds and boats.
